CSO Broken Bay Winner of Prestigious WorkCover NSW Safety Award

Bringing the CSOHS Online awards total for 2007 to three, the CSO Broken Bay was named as winner of the Best Workplace Health and Safety Management System category of the prestigious WorkCover NSW 2007 awards. These awards, a key component of Safe Work Australia Week 2007 were presented at a Gala Dinner on 25 October at Homebush Bay’s Waterview Convention Centre. This function was attended by several hundred guests and dignitaries from industry, government and community organisations.

The Awards judging panel concluded of CSO’s OHS achievements that “extending beyond its own geographic border…the CSO demonstrates a sustained and comprehensive commitment to OHS not only to staff and students within the Diocese, but to all schools who request it. [CSOHS Online] is a very impressive system that has widespread application to all schools and with the potential for use in childcare and disability services. [CSO’s] ongoing commitment to share their knowledge with others to improve OHS outcomes is outstanding”.

Brother Tony Whelan cfc, Director of Schools CSO Broken Bay, addressed dinner guests and again asserted, as he had earlier this year when on behalf of CSO he accepted the SAI Global OHS Systems Excellence award and recently the National Safety Council of Australia’s Best Implementation of a Specific OHS Management System award, “This WorkCover award really belongs to the Principals and school staffs who have so strongly embraced and implemented the management system, and to the CSO’s OHS team.”

“We are honoured to be known as a community that is committed to the health, safety and welfare of all staff, students and parents”.
