Broken Bay Catholic schools throw open their doors for Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools across the Broken Bay diocese are opening their doors to celebrate Catholic Schools Week from May 1-7 with a host of activities and events designed to celebrate the theme, ‘A Learning Adventure, a Journey of Faith’.
The Director of Schools for the Diocese of Broken Bay, Br Tony Whelan cfc, said the theme for 2011 encompasses the two core objectives of Catholic schools.
“Catholic schooling is about bringing Christ into the lives of the students, and providing a learning experience for all students that allows them to grow and thrive,” he said.
“Catholic schools are also an important part of the local community and we value our close links with the communities we serve. Catholic Schools Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and to share some of the unique attributes of Catholic schools.”
“I invite you to contact your local Catholic school to get involved with its Catholic Schools Week events. You will be most welcome.”
Catholic schools make an important contribution to the community educating about 20 percent of Australian school students. In NSW and the ACT there are 258,200 students attending 615 Catholic schools.
