Prouille Catholic School celebrates 60 years

Prouille Catholic School, Wahroonga celebrated its 60th anniversary on Thursday 5 August, St Dominic’s Day. The primary school was founded by the Dominican Sisters in 1950 and was led by the Dominican Sisters until 1989 when the first lay Principal was appointed.

More than 150 ex students, teachers, parents and parishioners came to the 60th anniversary mass concelebrated by Bishop David Walker, Father Clem Hill and Father Luke Rawlings.

“Prouille” is the name of a small village in France, and this is where St Dominic, in 1206, established the foundation of the Dominican Sisters. The school motto is “Veritas” – Truth, which is the motto of the Dominican Order.

After the mass, guests enjoyed a morning tea and had a trip down memory lane, with a photograph and memorabilia exhibition in the hall. Both young and old enjoyed looking at the old photos and trying to find themselves amongst them.
