Success for St Peter’s Catholic College VET/SBAT Program

Two Year 12 students from St Peter’s Catholic College, Tuggerah have been recognised at the recent Central Coast Apprenticeships & Traineeship Advisory Committee (CATAC) Awards Evening, receiving two of the five major awards amongst strong competition.

Brenton Pearce was awarded 2008 School Based Apprentice of the Year while Felicity Harris was awarded the 2008 Vocational Student of the Year.

Brenton is currently undertaking school studies that will make him eligible to receive a UAI, as well as completing his School Based Apprenticeship (SBA) in Carpentry & Joinery - Carpenter Certificate III.  Brenton’s employer is the Housing Industry Association and his direct employer is Hotondo Homes.

Felicity, also in Year 12, has excelled in her Entertainment course and works within the Entertainment industry, working closely with Grey Wolf Productions.

Both Brenton and Felicity plan to pursue career paths in line with their studies. Brenton intends to go to University to study Construction Management after he completes his Apprenticeship.

St Peter’s Principal, Mrs Vicki Comerford congratulated both Brenton and Felicity on their commitment and success and paid tribute to the supportive environment at St Peter’s for helping to create opportunities for all students.   Mrs Comerford also acknowledged St Peter’s VET/SBAT Co-ordinator, Mrs Pauline Dibb and Entertainment teacher, Mr Ian Judge for their commitment and expertise in guiding the students to such excellent outcomes.

Brenton now proceeds as a finalist in the School Based Apprentice of the Year category of the 2008 NSW State Training Awards. Winners in all categories will be announced at a gala presentation on 4 September 2008 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. St Peter’s Catholic College together with CSO Broken Bay wish Brenton every success.
