   Broken Bay HSC Students

Higher School Certificate success in 2007

A significant number of students in systemic schools in the Diocese of Broken Bay achieved outstanding results across a broad range of subjects in the 2007 Higher School Certificate examinations.

Two hundred and nineteen students appeared in the Distinguished Achievers List, or the top 10% (90+) in a subject. Particularly outstanding results were achieved in Studies of Religion, English Extension 1 and Extension 2, Music, General Mathematics and Design and Technology where a significant proportion of students achieved the highest State benchmark. These results, a significant improvement from the 2006 results, were also very strong in comparison to state averages.

School Principals indicated that several exceptional performances were also achieved by students who undertook vocational education and training (VET) courses and received a nationally recognised credential as a result. One student from St Peter’s Catholic College Tuggerah Lakes was awarded both the Central Coast VET Student of the Year Award and the prestigious Australian Student Vocational Award.

The excellence demonstrated in these results is testament to diligent students and quality teaching. Congratulations to all students on the achievement of their HSC.
