Prouille Catholic School celebrates 60th anniversary
Prouille Catholic School at Wahroonga is celebrating it’s 60th anniversary this year. The primary school was founded by the Dominican Sisters in 1950 and was led by the Dominican Sisters until 1989 when the first lay Principal was appointed. The school motto is “Veritas” – Truth, which is the motto of the Dominican Order. “Prouille” is the name of a small village in France, and this is where St Dominic, in 1206, established the foundation of the Dominican Sisters. Special celebrations are being prepared for the 60th anniversary on Thursday 5 August 2010 commencing at 9.30am. Anyone connected with Prouille or Holy Name Parish, Wahroonga, over the past 60 years is warmly invited to the celebrations. Please contact the school office if you require any more information 9489 3233. “The 60th anniversary is an extremely special occasion where we can celebrate the wonderful rich history of Prouille, as well as look into an exciting future ahead,” said Philip Ledlin, Principal of Prouille. To mark this special occasion, families or individuals with past or present connections are invited to create and purchase a personalised “memorial paver” to commemorate the occasion. Please enquire at the school office about how to create and purchase a “memorial paver” before Monday, 19th June. |
