Accessibility statement

This site has been developed to ensure content is available to the widest possible audience, including readers using assistive technology or accessibility features. By adhering to guidelines for accessible web design, we acknowledge the diversity of communication methods, available technologies and abilities of web-users in the community.

Access keys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key.

All pages in this site define the following access keys:

Standards compliance

• All pages are written in XHTML transitional and use CSS for visual layout. This is not a judgement call; a program can determine with 100% accuracy whether a page is valid XHTML and CSS.
• All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. H1 tags are used for main titles, H2 tags for subtitles to structure the content.

Links

Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target (such as the headline of an article). Links are written to make sense out of context.

Images

All content images used in this site include an alternative description for users who use a text only browser. Purely decorative graphics do not include a description.

Visual design

• This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.
• This site uses relative font sizes, combined with a base text-size changing feature on the top right of each page to enable site-wide easy choice of size.
• If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content and heirarchy of each page is still readable.

Technologies

This site and its content is still available to users of non-modern browsers, and those without CSS or Javascript.
