Mission Services TeamFunctionsThe key focus of the Mission Services Team is the implementation of Catholic Life and Mission priorities in the context of the Diocesan Strategic Plan Going Forward Together. Religious education is a key focus for the Team. Mission Services provides support to principals, religious education coordinators and teachers of religious education overseeing the implementation of the K-12 Syllabus for religious education. The team also is responsible for planning and delivering relevant professional learning opportunities, and spiritual formation initiatives, as well as the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum initiatives, mission and justice activities and other services, as required. The Mission Services Team also has responsibilities in relation to the way schools and the Catholic Schools Office function within the mission of the church in the Diocese of Broken Bay. This includes articulation of our Catholic and diocesan identity, support for school leaders, school-based youth ministry, the partnership between parishes and school, liturgical celebrations, and the role of parents in religious education. Educational ServicesFunctionsThe Educational Services Team addresses diocesan and Catholic Schools Office strategic and annual priorities associated with pedagogy and curriculum, to promote excellence in teaching and learning within the distinctive context of a Catholic worldview. The team addresses the diverse needs of primary and secondary students and schools, as well as the issues of transition between primary and secondary education. The team is comprised of five sub-groups: the Primary Education Team; the Secondary Education Team; the Students with Special Needs Team; Pastoral Care; and Information, Communication and Learning Technologies Team. ICLT ServicesFunctions:The new diocesan wide ICLT Services Group was established in June 2005. The group has incorporated the existing CSO IT services unit. The Manager ICLT Services is working with the Project Manager of the ICLT Architecture Project to design and implement a new ICLT Service for the Diocese. The ICLT Steering Committee provides a governance process for ICLT across the Diocese. The Information Technology Services team supports and develops the application of computer-based administration technologies and information services in the CSO and diocesan schools, including: The team provides:
Human Resources ServicesFunctionsThe major functions of the Human Resource Services Team include the recruitment, selection, appointment and appraisal of principals, assistant principals, religious education coordinators, and Catholic Schools Office (CSO) staff; succession planning and leadership development; and the management of the requirements of the Institute of Teachers. Other functions include induction, professional learning, assisting principals, through their Schools Consultant in managing industrial and employment issues at school level, managing allegations of child abuse against employees, contractors and volunteers including processing initial investigations, liaison with the Catholic Commission for Employment Relations (CCER) and staff development, negotiations with unions, advice to CSO and schools on all requirements of OH&S legislation including implementation of the OH&S Management Plan Financial ServicesFunctionsFinancial Services supports the financial, administrative and technological needs of schools. It is responsible for the financial health of the school system, monitoring school financial performance and the provision of financial services for the Catholic Schools Office. The Financial Services Team has responsibility for internal financial controls, financial policies and procedures, global system budget, expenditure on special purpose grants and ensuring that government financial accountability requirements are met. It provides advice and co-ordinates matters associated with the planning, development and maintenance of school facilities. The team has responsibility for ensuring school facilities comply with appropriate educational building code, health and safety standards and that schools satisfy registration requirements. The team also has responsibility for liaising with school communities to maintain the facilities at an appropriate standard. |
