Principles for Aboriginal Education Perspectives
The following principles inform our approach to the inclusion of Aboriginal Perspectives across the curriculum:
- A curriculum and other experiences that teach our students about and deepen their understanding of Aboriginal people, their cultures, spiritualities, history and experiences
- Acknowledgement and valuing of Aboriginal peoples and their cultures through the curriculum
- The involvement of Aboriginal people in all aspects of Aboriginal Education in our schools
- Working towards the achievement of reconciliation through the curriculum and other celebrations
- Developing whole school strategies to ensure that curriculum development is just, inclusive and culturally appropriate
- A whole school integrated approach to the implementation of Aboriginal Perspectives within and across the curriculum
- Ensure that all curriculum development develops knowledge and understandings that target Aboriginal cultural protocols, spirituality, cultures and perspectives on social, political and historical issues in both traditional and contemporary settings
